Identify Operations & Their Inverse - 60 minutes
Materials Needed: Chromebook, pencil, worksheets, markers,
chart paper
Objective: Students will utilize prior knowledge and
discussion to identify the present operation in an equation or expression, as
well as the inverse operation.
Warm -Up (15 minutes):
Edpuzzle video - Intro to Algebraic Equations.
Students will be
review what an operation is, as well as review the basic algebraic operations
and their inverses.
Instruction (40 minutes) :
Class discussion about operations & their inverses.
Students will work in groups to create a graphic organizer, table, or chart to classify key words on the as one of the operations - addition, subtraction multiplication, division.
Closure (10 minutes):
Students will demonstrate
their understanding and apply what they learned today. Given word problem scenarios, they must highlight key words, identify the present operation, as well as the inverse operation
